Illuminating hidden dynamics to mobilize collective creativity & transformation
Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment Training Embodied Equity Training
Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment is a powerful developmental model illuminating hidden social dynamics based on our conditioned habits of overvaluing and undervaluing groups of people with certain characteristics. This model, developed by Leticia Nieto, PsyD, and articulated in her book Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment: A Developmental Model to Liberate Everyone, "offers a powerful analysis of the psychological dynamics of oppression and privilege, and shows readers how to develop the skills that can promote social justice for themselves and those around them."
Margit is a certified trainer of this work and offers the following Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment services:

Our continuing value to society will increasingly depend on how well we learn to bridge between differences of all types – while honoring and celebrating diversity. It is an imposing challenge to generate a vision of any cultural change. This training is designed to facilitate communication and empowerment. The focus will be on clarifying the complexities of working across significant differences and on understanding the dynamics of oppression and liberation. The training often results in participants taking on action plans to bring about positive change. Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment Certified trainers support you, your organization, or your community to develop a common language and analysis about oppression and liberation while deepening your commitment to social justice. Trainings provide participants with an in depth grasp of social dynamics at the levels of Status (interactional style), Rank (socialization and conditioning), and Power (transcendent), Pamela Hays’s ADDRESSING model and the nine areas of social inequality, including Agent and Target group member roles, and their corresponding developmental processes. Group Training Workshop Participants will:
Explore playful and dynamic interactive activities with approaches to activism, conflict resolution, community building, and anti-oppression.
Improve abilities to effect change by playing with relationships to power structures using physical imagery and improvisational exercises.
Learn “otherizing” or distancing dynamics common to sexism, racism, ageism, xenophobia, homophobia, classism, and others.
Recognize the dynamics of unintentional prejudices and how they affect work in education, health, and human services.
Reduce tendencies to think and act in prejudicial ways, and effectively reduce prejudices in various situations.
Have a great deal of fun, come to value one another in a new way, and identify options for choosing vitality in life and work.

General Group Facilitation Services We are such unique people, it is inevitable that things will get tough when our differences rub up against each other! Does your group feel stuck in a challenging dynamic?
Skilled facilitation can help:
create a climate of trust
design an effective flow of conversation
allow different perspectives to be heard and considered
clarify and articulate emerging directions
create agreement on important decisions
identify next steps
Types of relationships that can benefit from skilled facilitation: ~ between two people ~ between a variety of individuals and/or stakeholders ~ between groups
Types of challenges that might call for support: > strong power differential (one voice tends to dominate) > communication hasn't worked that well so far > significant differences in perspective > unable to listen to each other > the parties need each other in order to move forward
My standard rate for group facilitation is $300 per hour.
"While Margit Bantowsky worked at Ecology she was recognized as a talented facilitator. In the situations I observed, she facilitated groups, either to get to a common decision, get a team moving in the same direction, or learning about challenging new concepts. She brought to the table an ability to provide a secure environment that allowed open and honest communication, and had the ability to provide a logical path forward. She is also responsive to specific group or individual needs. If you have a need for such facilitation, I recommend Margit."
